 Medea, one of the states of Algeria, and its symbol are 26 years, the age of the state of Medea is estimated at a thousand years or more, so Medea is the capital of your Titari. Its history dates back to ancient times, that is to say, around 350 AH, so that one of the historians said (Medea is very old, and that Medea preceded Bani Ziri and is older than Aser ...), it has been traded by several civilizations and inhabited by many peoples, and it interrupts the city of Tlemcen in several traditions for the similarity of the ways of life of its inhabitants, their mode of urbanization, and their way of life. Among the prominent personalities who were born and raised in the city are Sheikh Fadel Iskandar and Ibn Shanab, as it was the capital of the fourth state in the country.

 

Today, Médéa, among the states of Algeria, has a cultural, tourist, and historical product. It comprises 64 communes spread over 19 departments and 5 administrative districts: Médéa, Al-Brouaqia, Kasr Al-Bukhari, Shallala Al-Adhara, and Tablat.




Geographical location

Medea is located in Tel Atlas, about 89 km south of Algiers, and occupies an area of 8,710 km² at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level. The state of Medea shares its borders with several central states:

  • From the north: the wilayas: Blida, Tipasa, Boumerdes,
  • From the south: the wilayats: Djelfa, Tissemsilt, M'sila,
  • From the east: Bouira,
  • From the west: Aïn Defla

And because the state of Medea is connected to the national road network number one (01), which is the backbone of the national road network connecting the northern and southern regions, number eight (08) and number forty (40) from east to west, and eighteen (18) between Miliana and Bouira, And the number (60) between Al-Bukhari Palace and Al-Adhara Falls to Al-Masila. This is what made it the link between the coast and the highlands, as well as between the east and the west.


The climate

Thanks to its geographical situation, the state is considered as a link between the coast and the high plateaus. It is agropastoral in character since the agricultural territory is estimated at an area of 341,000 hectares and the forest estate is estimated at 161,885 hectares. It presents real opportunities for various economic activities.

 

The climate of the tides is characterized by characteristics imposed by natural factors, including :

Thus, it is characterized by a semi-continental Mediterranean climate, cold and wet in winter, moderate in spring, hot and dry in summer, and it is called the door of the rains so that the amount of rainfall reaches 500 mm per year at a high rate. of precipitation, especially in December, January, and February, and snow usually covers the heights of the Ben Shekau, as it is called with snowfall.

 

It can be divided into 4 zones:

 

The wet zone

This zone belongs to the highlands of the Pleiades Atlas.

  • It is characterized by significant rainfall exceeding 900 mm spread throughout the year on days exceeding 75 days.
  • The dry and hot season does not exceed 03 months.
  • The snow stays more than 20 days.
  • The average minimum temperature in January is above 0°C.

 

Semi-humid field

  • This area covers the tidal plateau and the southern slopes of the Atlas Pleid.

  • The average rainfall exceeds 600 mm, distributed regularly throughout the year, with a number of days exceeding 75 days.
  • The dry season of 03 to 04 months.
  • Snow lasts about 20 days during the winter with a significant drop in temperature.

 

Semi-arid zone

  • rainfall varies between 400 mm and 600 mm.
  • A dry season for more than 04 months, the plains of Beni Suleiman, Titari, and Wunchris predominate.
  • Snow does not last long as it does not exceed 10 days.

 

Arid field

 precipitation less than 300 mm over the whole steppe region in the south of the state.
