The city was strong and rich during the reign of the Antonine emperors (96-182 AD), with a population of 100,000 people.

 

And with the arrival of the Vandals, a tragic end came and the city suffered greatly until it was demolished in 439 AD and destroyed again in 533 AD by the last king of the Vandals after its decline and deterioration. In the 7th century AD, the Muslim Arabs entered the city and called it Ras Skikda.
