Batna (Batna in Tifinagh. SVG, French: Batna), is a city and municipality regionally affiliated with the district of Batna in the Algerian province of Batna.


Location

The city is located in the Aurès Mountains in northeastern Algeria. The municipality of Batna is bordered by Seriana and Fsedis from the north, from the northeast by Fsedis, from the east by Ayoun Al-Asafeer, from the southeast by Tazoult, It is bounded on the west and south by Wadi al-Shu'bah, and on the northwest by Wadi al-Maa.

Language

The inhabitants of the city speak the Berber language Chaoui as well as colloquial Arabic. Standard Arabic is used in official documents and charters, as stipulated in the state constitution.

 

Climate

The climate of the city of Batna is semi-humid and humid in the highlands. Temperatures vary between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius in January during the day, and in the mountainous areas, they oscillate between -5, 0, 3, or 4 degrees Celsius during the day, and 35 degrees Celsius in July and in the mountainous areas such as Chile and Ashmoul, oscillating between 25 and 30 degrees during the day, and sometimes between 13 and 20 degrees during the day. Relief and mountains

The city of Batna is located in a depression in the middle of the mountains. It is bordered on the north by the Balzma mountain range, which is topped by the Shala'a peak, 2178 m. On the east and west, plains and hills, while in the south, rise the majestic mountains of the Aures, which represent the heart.

Govi 

The natural site of Govi is located in the heart of the Aures, not far from the city of Batna and in the direction of the city of Biskra. Mountains of the Aures :

The Aurès Mountains have been associated with the Algerian liberation revolution against French colonialism, as it is the town in which the first bullet was fired to announce the liberation revolution. Its most important mountains: Shelia Mountains 2388 m and Ashmool 2320 m, which are distinguished by the density of their forests and snow in winter and their greenery in spring, summer, and fall. It also has several valleys, the most important of which is Wadi Abdi, which rises from the high mountains of Al-Mahmal 2341 m to the lowest deserts of Biskra and the White Valley of Shelia and Ashmool to the deserts.

 

Lambazi:

Between Timgad and the city of Batna, and on the same National Road 88 that leads to Timgad, is the city of Lambaz or Lambazis, which was once the base of the Third Legion and the Roman military capital of Numidia.

 

Medgasine:

About 35 km northeast of the city of Batna is the tomb of Madghassen, which dates to the third century BC. The tomb of Madghassen is located in the commune of Boumeya, district of Mather, province of Batna, on a plateau. This made it visible from afar and in the middle of a cemetery. One of the most important communes known for these fruits is the commune of Aris, Naqaous, and Takout. Even the oaks are widely spread in the mountains of the Aures, that is to say in the forests of Batinah covered with oaks and pines.
